Rules & Regulations - No Gi

****NO COACHES OR INSTRUCTORS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE COMPETITION FLOOR, THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS****

All competitors must attend weigh in on August 1, 2010 at the Riverside Convention Center located at 3443 Orange Street, Riverside, CA 92501. Weigh in will be approximately a half hour before your division is to compete. Children of all ages will be required to weigh in.

Each competitor must turn in an individual registration form along with entry fees. Registration available here.

If you are mailing your payments in: Make money orders or cashiers check payable to U.B.J.J.

ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONAL CHECKS. NO SAME DAY REGISTRATION.

If two competitors from the same school reach the finals in their belt and weight division, the decision is placed upon the instructor of that school whether the competitors will or will not fight.

RESTRICTIONS:

  • In all categories the central referee has the authority to stop a match when either of the competitors is in danger of serious bodily harm as a result of a submission and award the victory to competitor applying the submission.
  • Cervical locks or neck cranks are not allowed in any category except for chokes in the juveniles or adult divisions in all belts.
  • Athletes under 18 (Juveniles) are only allowed to compete in the open class if they are middle weight or heavier.
  • Wrestling shoes or any type of shoes, head gear, shirts under the gi (except for girls) and any kind of protectors that can alter the outcome of the match in any way are not allowed in competition.
  • In children’s divisions between 4-15years, when a competitor is executing a triangle and the opponent stands up it is the referees obligation to stand in a position to protect both athletes, specifically to reduce the risk of cervical damage.

  • 4-6 yrs 2 minutes
  • 7-9 yrs 3 minutes
  • 10-12 4 minutes
  • 13-15 4 minutes
  • 16-17 5 minutes

Winning by:

  • Submission
  • Points
  • Advantage

Advantage: It is considered an advantage when the athlete attempts but does not complete any fundamental moves of the fight for example, a submission.

HYGIENE

  • No gi attire must be washed and dried with no unpleasant odors.
  • Toe and fingernails must be cut short and clean.
  • People with long hair must keep their hair from interfering with there opponent or themselves during the match.
  • Athletes are not permitted to paint there hair with spray and may be disqualified by the referee by doing so.

No-Gi Atire:

  • Males: may compete with t-shirt or rash guard and board shorts.
  • Females: must wear rash guards and board shorts.

Competitors must abide by the hygiene and no-gi specifications in order to compete; otherwise the opponent will be considered the winner.
